Library Update: Scheduled Maintenance on Library Portal

We wish to inform users that we will performing a scheduled maintenance on the Library Portal during the period stated below:

Library Update: Closure and Online Services

Kindly note that the NIE Library will be closed from 6 April 2020 until further notice.

 

We have moved our library services online. Do take note of the changes as we continue to support you.

Temporary Closure of NIE Library

In line with the latest COVID-19 precautionary measures, the Library will be closed from 6 Apr 2020 (Mon) until further notice.

 

All loans due after 6 Apr 2020 will be extended and renewed automatically. Please contact libcirc@nie.edu.sg should you have further enquiries.

 

You may continue to access online resources and services via our Library Portal. For enquiries, please contact us at libris@nie.edu.sg

Changes in Library Opening Hours

With effect from 30 Mar 2020 (Mon), NIE Library’s opening hours (until further notice) will be as follows:

 

Mon - Fri : 8:30 am - 6:00 pm | Sat: 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

 

 

We thank you for your understanding as we implement precautionary measures to safeguard the NIE community.

COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

Following the MOH advisory on safe distancing, the NIE Library has adopted more precautionary measures to

help limit the spread of #covid19.

 

Here are the latest on the precautions we have taken:

 

  • Reduced total number of seats with a safe distance of at least 1 metre between all seats.
  • Queue markers at Level 2 Service Point and Bookmark Café
  • Hand sanitisers are placed at all public terminals and Bookmark Café
  • Enhanced cleaning of frequently used places and surfaces
  • Closure of meeting spaces such as Learning PODS, Research Commons, Staff Lounge and SMART Room
  • Compulsory tapping in and out of the Library

Scheduled IT Maintenance 6-7 Mar 2020

Academic Computing and Information Services (ACIS) will be performing the following IT preventive maintenance:

The NIE and Research data centres will be shut down. All IT services in the NIE campus will not be available.
 
The following IT services will be made available from the Internet using a second data centre outside NIE campus. There will be intermittent disruptions during failover on Fri night and failback on Sat night:


•    Blackboard
•    LIBRIS Portal and e-databases
•    NIE Corporate Web Site
•    NIE Portal 
•    Staff email*

*During the downtime, access to emails may be intermittently disrupted but email delivery will not be affected.

Shorter Printing & Photocopying Services Operating Hours on 15 Feb 2020

We wish to inform users that the printing and photocopying services for the Library on 15 Feb 2020 will be from 8:30am to 2:30pm due to the replacement works for electrical meters.

We wish to inform users that Academic Computing & Information Services (ACIS) will be performing the following IT preventive maintenance:

Fire Alarm Test at Library on 26 Oct 2019

We wish to inform users that DED will be carrying out the testing and commissioning of the upgraded fire alarm system on 26 Oct 2019, Saturday from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs at all blocks in NIE.  

 

During the test, fire alarm bells and speakers will be sounded intermittently. Please do not be alarmed.

 

Please do not use the lifts during the test.
