Electronic Resources

Newslink is an online newspaper archival service. The database covers news stories and articles written by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) journalists excluding stories from news agencies such as Reuters, AP, AFP, etc.

NewspaperSG (1831-1989)
NewspaperSG is an online resource of current and historically important newspapers from Singapore and Malaya. The digitised newspaper collection includes the Straits Times, the Singapore Chronicle and Straits Register, the Malayan Saturday Post, the Straits Observer (Singapore) as well as many other titles.

ProQuest Global Newsstream contains over 2,500 news sources, including newspapers, newswires, news journals, television and radio transcripts, blogs, podcasts, and digital-only websites in full-text format. Users can access the news archives of U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Australia with a coverage from the current day to the 1980s. Mobile Applications on Tablets

You can now read the latest issues of e-newspapers and e-magazines in the LearningHub Lounge. Pick up one of the four tablets resting on the tables, relax on a sofa and catch up on the latest news on the mobile apps available.  Catch up on local newspapers such as The Straits Times, Business Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian and The New Paper, and popular international magazines such as Time and Fortune.

Print Resources

The newspapers at the Newspaper Reading Corner* in the NIE Library range from overseas newspapers such as the International Herald Tribune and the Financial Times to the local Straits Times, Business Times, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian and Tamil Murasu. Local student newspapers such as IN, Little Red Dot, ZBcomma and Gen G/13 are also available.

*The Newspaper Reading Corner is an initiative by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Foundation with the aim of encouraging all, but especially young Singaporeans, to keep abreast of current and social affairs and to promote the habit of reading the news daily.

Location: Level 3, Left Wing, just before the LearningHub 

Note: Past newspapers (up to a week) are stored in the flap underneath the shelves behind the Tamil Current Journals at Level 2, Right Wing.
